JR Kansai Area Rail Pass covered Kansai International Airport, Kyoto, Osaka, Nara, Kobe and Himeji. If visitors travel within those cities, this is the only pass you needed. Please get unlimited rides on the non-reserved seats on the Kansai-Airport Express, “HARUKA”, and Rapid Service as well as local trains from Kansai Airport to each cities. From March, 2015 the area is to expand to Wakayama, Shiga, Tsuruga and Iga-Ueno!

VALIDITY

  • As of April 10, 2017 it can be used on West JR Bus services within the valid area

  • With the Pass, no additional fee is required when reserving seats.
  • Shinkansen Bullet Trains are not included in the Pass.
  • Non-reserved Ordinary class cars can be accessed freely.
  • In order to travel in first class (Green cars) you will have to pay additional fees.
  • To access the platforms, show your pass to the JR West staff located at the platform gates.
  • To reserve a seat, ask the JR West staff at the ticket office.
  • It is a personal pass. Please always carry your passport when using the Pass as station and train staff may check it.

CANCELLATION

  • The starting date written on the JR West Pass cannot be changed.
  • An unused voucher is refundable for one year from the date of issue.
  • The voucher can be refunded if it has never been exchanged in Japan.
  • 15% of the price will be charged as a refund handling fee.
  • A refund can only be made with the original JR Kansai Area Pass Exchange Order within one year of the date of issue.
  • Neither an Exchange Order nor a JR Kansai Area Pass can be reissued if lost or stolen.

aKansai WIDE Area Pass


Kansai WIDE Area Pass

This Kansai Wide area pass covers a much bigger area than other Kansai area pass. This pass is a popular pass for foreign travellers who want to travel outside Kansai, which include Kinosaki Onsen, Shirahama, Kurashiki, and Okayama area. You can get unlimited rides on non-reserved seats on the Sanyo Shinkansen (Incl. NOZOMI and MIZUHO, between Shin-Osaka and Okayama), Limited Express trains, Rapid Service and local trains from Kansai Airport. The area is to expand to Takamatsu and Iga-Ueno for passes valid from March, 2015.

*Not valid on the Tokaido Shinkansen (not valid on the Shinkansen between the Shin-Osaka and Kyoto)

JR Sanyo San’in (山陽山陰) Area Pass includes JR West lines, Sanyo Shinkansen (Nozomi, Mizuho, Hikari, Sakura, Kodama), Limited express trains incl. Kansai airport express Haruka, and Ferry to Miyajima and so on.  This pass offers foreign travellers travel at a special discounted price. Thanks to an unlimited access to JR West lines in Chugoku region and parts of Kansai region, foreign travellers can use the pass  for 7 consecutive days. As compared with the JR Kansai Wide area pass, this pass is suited for travellers who want to go Hiroshima, Yamaguchi, Shimonoseki and Hakata area.

VALIDITY

  • From April 10, 2017, the area covered by the San’in-Okayama Area Pass has been expanded to include the stretch between Masuda and Hagi stations on the San’in Main Line.
  • The pass is valid on these lines below:
    • Non-reserved seats on Express Trains ‘YAKUMO,SUPER HAKUTO (between Kamigori and Chizu) etc.
    • Rapid Services, and Local trains on JR-WEST Conventional lines
    • Non-reserved seats on limited express, rapid service and local trains in the San’in and Okayama areas, and also on the Chizu Express Line.
  • The Pass is NOT valid on the Sanyo Shinkansen between Shin-Osaka and Hakata.

BOOKING

  • Once the PASS has a starting date written on it, the date cannot be changed.
  • In order to travel in first class (Green cars) you will have to pay additional fees.
  • To access the platforms, show your pass to the JR West staff located at the platform gates.
  • To reserve a seat, ask the JR West staff at the ticket office.
  • It is a personal pass. Please always carry your passport when using the Pass as station and train staff may check it.

CANCELLATION

  • The starting date written on the San’in-Okayama Area Pass cannot be changed.
  • An unused voucher is refundable for one year from the date of issue.
  • The voucher can be refunded if it has never been exchanged in Japan.
  • 15% of the price will be charged as a refund handling fee.
  • A refund can only be made with the original San’in-Okayama Area Pass Exchange Order within one year of the date of issue.
  • Neither an Exchange Order nor a San’in-Okayama Area Pass can be reissued if lost or stolen.

  • Only travelers visiting Japan under the entry status of “Temporary visitor” and has a passport bearing this stamp can use this pass. Please note that according to strict interpretation of the Japanese Immigration Law, “Temporary visitor” status differs even from other types of stays that are also for only short time periods.
  • Japanese passport holders can NOT use this pass. However in a rare case when travellers have dual passports (Japanese & Other), unless your valid non Japanese passport is stamped with “Temporary Visitor”, issuance of JR pass will be refused.

  • The pass is NOT valid on
    • Conventional railway lines in Kyushu (Shimonoseki – Hakata)
    • You need to purchase a separate reserved-seat ticket when boarding “SL Yamaguchi”
    • Reserved seats on the Sanyo Shinkansen or limited express trains

EXCHANGE

  • Within three months from the date the Exchange Order was issued, you must turn in your Exchange Order to obtain your JR WEST PASS (for example, an Exchange Order issued on 15APR would have to be turned in by 14JUL). EXCHANGE

  • After arriving in Japan, a passport and an exchange order are required when exchanging for the actual Okayama-Hiroshima-Yamaguchi Area Pass.

VALIDITY

  • The Pass is valid for 5 consecutive days.
  • The Okayama-Hiroshima-Yamaguchi Area Pass is valid on the following trains and routes
    • Non-reserved seats on ordinary cars of the bullet train Sanyo Shinkansen (including the NOZOMI and MIZUHO, between Hakata and Okayama)
    • Non-reserved seats of Limited Express trains / Local trains (including rapid services) in the designated area
    • Chugoku JR Bus services within the area
    • JR WEST MIYAJIMA FERRY (Miyajimaguchi ⇔ Miyajima)
    • Ekirin Kun (a bicycle rental service) in the valid area.
  • The pass is NOT on the conventional line in Kyushu (between Hakata and Shimonoseki).
  • Additional separate tickets are required for First Class (Green), Sleeper car, reserved seating on ordinary car. Please purchase at a JR West station before boarding
